  • Walnuts 50g
  • Almonds 50g

  • Dried Cranberries 70g

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Start by preparing 250g of rolled oats. Using thicker rolled oats will ensure a crispier texture after baking.

Step 1

Step 2

Measure out your nuts and seeds. You’ll need 50g of sunflower seeds, 50g of pumpkin seeds, 50g of walnuts, and 50g of almonds. Set aside the 70g of dried cranberries for now; they’ll be added later to prevent burning or becoming too hard.

Step 2

Step 3

Prepare the nuts. If using whole almonds, cut them in half for easier eating. You can also leave them whole or use sliced almonds according to your preference.

Step 3

Step 4

Chop the walnuts into smaller pieces, slightly smaller than bite-sized, to ensure they are easy to chew.

Step 4

Step 5

Now, let’s make the syrup that will bind everything together and add sweetness. In a bowl, combine 3 Tbsp of vegetable oil, 6 Tbsp of maple syrup, 1 Tbsp of sugar, and 1/2 tsp of salt. Whisk until all ingredients are well combined.

Step 5

Step 6

In a large bowl, combine the prepared rolled oats, nuts, and seeds (excluding the cranberries). Pour the syrup mixture over them and toss well until everything is evenly coated. Let this mixture sit for about 10 minutes to allow the oats and nuts to absorb the syrup.

Step 6

Step 7

Spread the syrup-coated granola mixture evenly onto a baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 150°C (300°F) for a total of 40 minutes. After the first 20 minutes, carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven, stir the granola to ensure even baking, and then return it to the oven for another 15 minutes. This stirring step is crucial for achieving uniform crispiness.

Step 7

Step 8

During the final 5 minutes of baking, add the reserved dried cranberries to the granola and mix them in. This brief baking time will warm the cranberries without making them overly hard or burnt.

Step 8

Step 9

Once the total 40 minutes of baking are complete, remove the granola from the oven. The nuts and oats should be golden brown and have a satisfyingly crisp texture. Allow the granola to cool completely before storing it in an airtight container to maintain its crunchiness. Enjoy your delicious and healthy homemade granola!
