SNS Viral Hit: Recreate Grandma’s Famous Soy Sauce Bibim Guksu
My grandmother used to make this dish for me on special occasions when I was a child. Making it again brought back so many cherished memories. This recipe perfectly captures that nostalgic taste.
Main Ingredients- Beef Round (thinly sliced) – 30g
- Onion (thinly sliced) – 1/4 medium
- Carrot (thinly julienned) – 1 handful
- Olive Oil – 1 Tbsp
Special Soy Sauce Dressing- Soy Sauce – 2 Tbsp
- Plum Extract (Maesilcheong) – 2 Tbsp
- Sesame Oil – 0.5 Tbsp
- Oyster Sauce – 0.5 Tbsp
- Sesame Seeds – 0.5 Tbsp
- Vinegar – 0.5 Tbsp
- Minced Garlic – 1 tsp
- Soy Sauce – 2 Tbsp
- Plum Extract (Maesilcheong) – 2 Tbsp
- Sesame Oil – 0.5 Tbsp
- Oyster Sauce – 0.5 Tbsp
- Sesame Seeds – 0.5 Tbsp
- Vinegar – 0.5 Tbsp
- Minced Garlic – 1 tsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Heat 1 Tbsp of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced beef, onion, and carrot all at once. Stir-fry for about 1 minute, just until the beef is cooked through. (Feel free to use any leftover beef scraps you might have!)
Step 2
Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil, then add your noodles and cook them. If the water boils over, add a splash of cold water; this helps make the noodles chewier.
Step 3
While the noodles are cooking, combine the stir-fried vegetables and all the dressing ingredients in a bowl. Mix them well to create the special soy sauce dressing. (You can adjust the amount of soy sauce or sweetness according to your taste and the quantity of noodles. A typical serving of noodles is about the size of a US penny or nickel.)
Step 4
Once the noodles are cooked, rinse them thoroughly under cold running water to remove excess starch. Shake off the excess water. This prevents the noodles from clumping and helps them absorb the sauce better.
Step 5
Add the drained noodles to the prepared soy sauce dressing. Gently toss and mix everything together, being careful not to break the noodles, until they are well coated. Your delicious Nostalgic Soy Sauce Bibim Guksu is now ready to enjoy!
