Key Ingredients- 10 fresh eggs
- 1/3 carrot
- 1/3 onion
- 1 handful of chives
- 1 paper cup (approx. 200ml) of kelp stock
- A little cooking oil
Seasoning Ingredients- 1 Tbsp cooking wine (to remove eggy smell and add flavor)
- 1/2 Tbsp sugar (for a hint of sweetness)
- 1/2 Tbsp salt (for seasoning)
- A pinch of black pepper
- 1 Tbsp cooking wine (to remove eggy smell and add flavor)
- 1/2 Tbsp sugar (for a hint of sweetness)
- 1/2 Tbsp salt (for seasoning)
- A pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the vegetables. Finely mince the carrot and onion. Chop the chives into small pieces. Finely dicing the vegetables will make the steamed egg texture even smoother and the flavors blend beautifully.
Step 2
Now, prepare your steaming container. Crack the 10 eggs into the container. Add the cooking wine, sugar, salt, and pepper. Whisk gently with a whisk or chopsticks until well combined. Then, add the minced carrot, onion, and chopped chives. Mix everything together gently. Ensure the vegetables are evenly distributed throughout the egg mixture.
Step 3
Cover the top of the container tightly with plastic wrap. This prevents moisture loss during steaming and helps the egg custard cook evenly, resulting in a moist and tender dish. Fill a pot with enough water to create steam, bring it to a boil, and then carefully place the covered egg container inside. Cover the pot with a lid and steam over medium heat for about 30 minutes. Once done, you’ll have a wonderfully soft and delicious cafeteria-style steamed egg ready to enjoy. Serve it with rice for an even more satisfying meal!
