A close friend brought me these incredibly fresh black-bone chicken eggs right to my doorstep. They say the eggs taste different when they’re this fresh! I decided to make a comforting, nostalgic egg bibimbap. While I made a simple fried egg for my husband with the fresh eggs, I personally love the classic way of mixing fried egg with soy sauce, sesame oil, and sesame seeds. This recipe is a trip down memory lane, simple yet incredibly satisfying. Enjoy this wonderfully savory and comforting dish!

Ingredients

  • 1 bowl of warm cooked rice
  • 3 black-bone chicken eggs
  • 2-3 Tbsp soy sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

Lightly coat a frying pan with about 1-2 tsp of cooking oil and heat over medium heat. Carefully crack the 3 black-bone chicken eggs into the pan. Cook the eggs to your desired doneness – sunny-side up for a runny yolk, or fully cooked. It’s important to manage the heat to prevent the eggs from burning. Once perfectly fried to a golden brown, carefully remove the eggs from the pan and set aside on a plate.

Place a bowl of warm cooked rice into a serving bowl. Gently place the freshly fried egg on top of the rice. Drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of soy sauce around the egg. The amount of soy sauce can be adjusted based on your salt preference. Finally, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds for extra nuttiness and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for a rich aroma over the egg.

Now, using chopsticks or a spoon, gently mix everything together until well combined. If you break the yolk and mix it with the rice, it will become even more creamy and savory.
