Taste of the Past: Easy Pink Sausage Omelet Pancake Recipe
Inspired by a child’s curiosity sparked by a retro Korean drama, this recipe brings back the beloved taste of pink sausage coated in fluffy omelet. It’s a simple yet delicious dish, perfect as a snack for kids or an appetizer for adults. Rediscover this classic comfort food with ease!
Ingredients- 250g pink sausage (Luncheon meat style)
- 2 eggs
- 1 pinch of salt (for egg mixture)
- 2 Tbsp cooking oil
- 10g ketchup (or your preferred sauce)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, carefully peel the outer casing off the pink sausage. Removing the casing ensures the egg mixture adheres well and provides a softer texture.
Step 2
Slice the pink sausage into pieces about 0.5cm to 1cm thick. Slicing them a bit thinner will result in a more pleasant texture when cooked.
Step 3
Crack two eggs into a bowl and whisk them thoroughly with a fork or spoon. Add a pinch of salt to eliminate any eggy smell and to lightly season the mixture.
Step 4
Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil, ensuring it coats the entire pan.
Step 5
Pour half of the whisked egg mixture into the hot pan and tilt it to spread the egg thinly and evenly. Be mindful of the heat to prevent the egg from burning.
Step 6
Once the egg mixture begins to set, arrange the sliced pink sausage pieces closely together over the egg, making sure they don’t overlap. Pack them in neatly for a visually appealing result.
Step 7
Using a spoon, gently spread the remaining egg mixture over the top of the sausage pieces, ensuring they are fully coated. This ‘egg coat’ is key to the dish. Don’t worry about making it perfect; a quick, even spread is fine!
Step 8
Reduce the heat to medium-low. Cook until the edges of the omelet start to set and turn a light golden brown. This step makes it easier to flip the pancake.
Step 9
Carefully flip the sausage pancake using the frying pan. Cook the other side until it’s also golden brown and slightly crispy. The beautifully browned sausage will look irresistible!
Step 10
Cut the pancake into desired serving sizes and arrange on a plate. For an enhanced flavor experience, serve with ketchup, sweet chili sauce, or any dipping sauce you prefer. Enjoy this delicious and nostalgic pink sausage omelet pancake!
