Essential Ingredients- 3 tsp granulated sugar
- 1 pinch baking soda
- 2 tsp granulated sugar
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, on a metal tray or wide plate where you’ll pour and cool the Dalgona, thinly and evenly sprinkle 2 tsp of granulated sugar. This helps prevent the Dalgona from sticking later.
Step 2
Now, add 3 tsp of granulated sugar to a pot or pan. If using an induction cooktop, set it to ‘Level 4’ to start melting the sugar. (If using a gas stove, medium-low heat is appropriate.)
Step 3
As the sugar slowly begins to melt and the edges turn transparent, quickly lower the induction cooktop to ‘Level 3’ and continuously stir the sugar with chopsticks or a spoon. It’s crucial to prevent burning during this step.
Step 4
Once the sugar has completely melted into a clear liquid, lower the induction cooktop further to ‘Level 1’. Immediately add 1 pinch of baking soda and quickly, but gently, stir until the sugar mixture turns a golden caramel color. Avoid stirring for too long or using high heat, as it can burn. Timing is key!
Step 5
When it reaches the perfect golden caramel color, carefully pour it onto the prepared sugar-sprinkled metal tray. Be cautious of burns as it’s very hot!
Step 6
As the Dalgona mixture begins to cool and set, sprinkle a little more sugar on top. Wait for about 1 minute, then gently press down multiple times with the back of a spoon to create a round, flat shape. Finally, use a knife or tool to create your desired pattern (trim edges, make shapes, etc.). It’s best to shape it before it completely hardens for a beautiful finish.
