Essential Ingredients

  • Spaghetti noodles: 100g
  • Medium onion: 1/2, or 1 small onion
  • Vienna sausages: 5-6 links

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, cook the spaghetti noodles according to your preference. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add a pinch of salt, and cook the spaghetti according to package directions or until al dente. Drain the pasta. (Tip: To prevent the noodles from sticking together, you can toss them with a little olive oil after draining instead of rinsing them with cold water.)

Step 1

Step 2

Peel and slice or dice the onion. Slice the Vienna sausages into bite-sized pieces. (Tip: Feel free to add any other ingredients you like at this stage! For instance, adding sliced black olives or shiitake mushrooms will create an even richer flavor.)

Step 2

Step 3

Heat 1-2 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they become translucent and slightly golden. This step brings out the natural sweetness of the onions, enhancing the overall flavor of the spaghetti.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the onions are softened, add the sliced Vienna sausages to the pan and stir-fry them together. Be careful not to burn the sausages. Add a pinch of sugar while sautéing; this will add a subtle sweetness and bring out the savory flavor of the sausages.

Step 4

Step 5

Now, add the cooked spaghetti noodles to the pan and toss them with the other ingredients until well combined. Stir-fry for about a minute to let the noodles absorb some flavor. Once the noodles are somewhat loosened, reduce the heat to low or turn it off temporarily. Add 3-4 Tbsp of ketchup and 1 tsp of oyster sauce. Stir and mix gently until the sauce coats the noodles evenly. (Tip: Adjust the amount of ketchup to your liking. It’s best to start with 3 Tbsp and add more as needed after tasting.)

Step 5

Step 6

After the sauce and noodles are well combined, season with black pepper to your personal taste. Mix everything together, and your delicious Neapolitan spaghetti is ready!

Step 6

Step 7

Serve the warm spaghetti onto a plate. For an extra touch, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese, or add a dash of hot sauce, dried oregano, or parsley flakes according to your preference. Enjoy your meal!
