Super Easy Spam Fried Rice Recipe: 15-Minute Meal!
When you have no side dishes or no time, fried rice is the best option! Let’s make a quick and delicious meal with the universally loved canned ham. This recipe is perfect for any meal, especially when you’re short on time.
Ingredients- 1 can (200g) Spam
- 2 bowls of warm cooked rice
- 2 eggs
- 6 stalks of green onions
- 1/4 carrot
- 5 cloves of garlic
Seasoning & Others- 2 Tbsp corn syrup (or honey)
- 2 Tbsp tuna extract (or soy sauce)
- Pinch of black pepper
- 2 Tbsp cooking oil
- 2 Tbsp corn syrup (or honey)
- 2 Tbsp tuna extract (or soy sauce)
- Pinch of black pepper
- 2 Tbsp cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all your ingredients. Thinly slice the garlic cloves. Finely dice the green onions and carrot. Cut the Spam into bite-sized pieces, about 0.7cm thick. If you find Spam too salty, you can blanch it in boiling water for a minute; this will reduce the saltiness and make it more tender.
Step 2
Heat the pan over medium heat and add 1 teaspoon of cooking oil. Add the sliced garlic and sauté over low heat until fragrant and lightly golden. Once the garlic is fragrant, add the cut Spam and stir-fry over medium heat. The Spam will render its own delicious fat, so you don’t need much oil initially.
Step 3
Once the Spam is nicely browned, push it to one side of the pan. Crack the eggs into the empty space. You can cook them sunny-side up or scramble them to your preference. The soft texture of the egg adds a wonderful richness to the fried rice.
Step 4
Add the diced carrot and green onions to the pan with the Spam drippings. Stir-fry them together. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of cooking oil to prevent sticking and ensure the vegetables cook evenly over medium-low heat. Sauté until the carrots are slightly softened and translucent to bring out their natural sweetness.
Step 5
Finally, add the two bowls of warm cooked rice to the pan. Drizzle in the tuna extract and corn syrup. Add a pinch of black pepper. Use a spatula to break up any clumps of rice and mix everything thoroughly, ensuring the rice is evenly coated with the ingredients and seasonings. Continue to stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the flavors meld together and the rice is heated through. This completes your delicious Spam fried rice! For an extra touch, you can garnish with crumbled seaweed or sesame seeds.
