Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your bento box. If you have an old-fashioned lunch tin, it will add to the nostalgic feel! Fill half of the prepared bento box with warm cooked rice. It’s best to pack the rice while it’s still warm to prevent it from drying out and ensure it stays delicious.
Step 2
In the empty space next to the rice, add the ‘Broccoli Sausage Stir-fry’ (Recipe ID @6909454), cut into bite-sized pieces. Its vibrant colors will make your bento box look even more appealing.
Step 3
Next, fill the remaining space with ‘Sweet & Savory Stir-fried Anchovies’ for a pleasant crunchy texture. The umami from the anchovies will enhance the overall flavor of the bento.
Step 4
Now it’s time to add seasoning to the rice. Place 1 tablespoon of Gochujang neatly on top of the rice. This is the key to its sweet and spicy flavor.
Step 5
To add a rich, nutty aroma, drizzle 1 teaspoon of sesame oil over the rice. The fragrant scent of sesame oil will stimulate your appetite.
Step 6
Cover the rice with the ‘Pork and Fish Cake Stir-fry’ (Recipe ID @6909456). The chewy fish cakes and savory sauce create a fantastic harmony with the rice.
Step 7
If you have leftover kimchi from Kimchi Jjigae, try stir-frying it in a dry pan without oil. As the moisture evaporates, it transforms into a delicious ‘Stir-fried Kimchi Jjigae’ similar to regular stir-fried kimchi. Filling the remaining space with this adds an explosion of flavor to your bento! (Recipe ID @6909244)
Step 8
The crowning glory of the bento box! It’s the fried egg. Top your bento with a fried egg, cooked sunny-side up or to your preference. Your nostalgic old-fashioned bento is now complete! It’s incredibly delicious when mixed with the rice while still warm!
