Sweet Boiled Corn: Gathering Delicious Ingredients

  • 4 fresh ears of corn
  • Corn husks (for boiling)
  • Corn silk (for boiling)
  • 2.5 cups water (approx. 500ml)
  • 2/3 tbsp coarse salt (approx. 10g)
  • 2 tbsp sugar (approx. 30g)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Peel away most of the outer husks from the corn, leaving just 2-3 layers attached. Remove any rough corn silk. Line the bottom of a pressure cooker with these reserved corn husks and silk. This prevents the corn from sticking and helps it cook up extra tender and moist.

Step 1

Step 2

After lining the pressure cooker with the husks and silk, add the water, coarse salt, and sugar. These ingredients will infuse the corn with delicious flavor. Give it a quick stir to help the sugar dissolve.

Step 2

Step 3

After lining the pressure cooker with the husks and silk, add the water, coarse salt, and sugar. These ingredients will infuse the corn with delicious flavor. Give it a quick stir to help the sugar dissolve.

Step 3

Step 4

Arrange the prepared corn ears in the pressure cooker. Pour in enough water to cover the corn completely (about 2.5 cups). Ensuring the corn is submerged will help it cook evenly.

Step 4

Step 5

Place the lid securely on the pressure cooker and bring it to a boil over high heat. Once steam starts to escape and you hear the pressure indicator whistle (‘chika chika’ sound), reduce the heat to low.

Step 5

Step 6

After the whistle starts, let it cook for about 5 minutes on low heat. Then, reduce the heat to the lowest setting and continue to simmer for another 10 minutes. Finally, turn off the heat and let the corn steam in the residual heat for about 5 minutes. This residual cooking time ensures the corn is moist and tender all the way through.

Step 6

Step 7

Serve the perfectly boiled corn warm! Look at that beautiful sheen – it’s incredibly appetizing. My daughter devoured two ears almost instantly after I placed them on the table. Seeing her enjoy her food fills my heart with joy, like any proud mother.

Step 7

Step 8

Doesn’t it look delicious? ‘Mom! This corn is so yummy!’ I put it on the table, and she gobbled up two ears in the blink of an eye. It makes me so happy just watching her eat. I’m a proud hedgehog mom!
