Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare all the filling ingredients. Slice the imitation crab sticks and ham into bite-sized pieces. Pan-fry eggs into thin omelets and cut them into strips. Stir-fry kimchi until it’s tender and slightly sweet and sour. Season the warm cooked rice with sesame oil and a pinch of salt.
Step 2
Lay a sheet of gim (seaweed) on a bamboo rolling mat. Spread about two-thirds of the seasoned rice evenly over the gim, leaving a small border at the top. Be careful as the rice may be hot. Using a rice paddle or spatula can help, but spreading it by hand often allows for better control.
Step 3
Arrange your prepared fillings, such as pickled radish, imitation crab sticks, ham, egg strips, stir-fried kimchi, and tuna mayo salad, in a line over the rice. Don’t be shy with the fillings for a richer flavor! Starting from the bottom edge, tightly roll up the gim using the bamboo mat, tucking in the filling as you go. Don’t worry if a little bit of filling peeks out; it will still be delicious!
Step 4
Lightly brush the outside of the rolled gimbap with sesame oil for a glossy finish. Sprinkle generously with sesame seeds for added aroma and nutty flavor. Slice the gimbap into your desired thickness and enjoy this homemade delight!
