For the Mochaccino Cream & Buns

  • 1 cup (240ml) cold heavy cream
  • 1 Tbsp granulated sugar (15g)
  • 1 Tbsp warm water (15ml)
  • 1 Tbsp instant coffee powder (5g)
  • 2 soft morning buns

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare the base for our rich coffee flavor. In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of warm water with 1 tablespoon of instant coffee powder. Stir well until the coffee powder is completely dissolved. Using warm water helps the coffee dissolve more easily and thoroughly.

Step 1

Step 2

Now, let’s whip up the luscious mochaccino cream. In a chilled bowl, pour in 1 cup of cold heavy cream and add 1 tablespoon of sugar. Begin whipping with a hand mixer on low speed, gradually increasing to high speed. Continue whipping until firm peaks form, meaning the cream will hold its shape when the beater is lifted. Be careful not to over-whip, as this can cause the cream to curdle.

Step 2

Step 3

Gently incorporate the dissolved coffee mixture into the whipped cream. It’s best to add the coffee liquid gradually, a little at a time, while continuing to mix on low speed. This prevents the cream from becoming too thin. Mix until the cream reaches a uniform color and desired consistency. The low speed ensures the cream stays smooth and velvety.

Step 3

Step 4

Next, we’ll prepare to fill the buns. Fit a piping bag with a star tip (or any decorative tip you prefer). Carefully transfer the mochaccino cream into the piping bag. If you don’t have a piping bag, a sturdy zip-top bag with a corner snipped off can be used as a substitute.

Step 4

Step 5

Finally, it’s time to fill your morning buns! Take a soft morning bun and locate the flat bottom. Gently insert the tip of the piping bag into the bottom of the bun and squeeze the mochaccino cream until the bun is filled. Try not to squeeze too hard, which could cause the bun to break. Fill them generously for a delightful cream-to-bun ratio. Enjoy immediately for a soft and creamy texture, or chill them in the refrigerator for a cooler, firmer treat.
