Microwave Steamed Eggs: Moist and Fluffy Delight!
Easy Microwave Steamed Egg Recipe
Enjoy a wonderfully moist and tender steamed egg dish, made effortlessly in your microwave. Perfect for busy mornings or a simple, satisfying meal.
Main Ingredients- 6 fresh eggs
- 300ml anchovy broth (or kelp broth, vegetable broth, etc.)
- Scallions, chopped to your liking
- Cheongyang chili peppers, seeded and chopped to your liking
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a bowl, crack 6 fresh eggs and pour in 300ml of anchovy broth. Whisk gently with a whisk or chopsticks until well combined. (Tip: The golden ratio is 50ml of broth per egg! You can use plain water, but anchovy broth adds a richer umami flavor.)
Step 2
Add the finely chopped scallions and seeded, chopped Cheongyang chili peppers to the egg mixture. Feel free to adjust the amount of scallions and peppers to your preference. I like a bit of spice, so I added two peppers.
Step 3
Pour the egg mixture into a microwave-safe bowl. Fill the bowl only up to about 3/4 of its capacity to prevent overflow as it cooks. A deeper bowl is recommended.
Step 4
Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap. Ensure the wrap adheres well to the rim of the bowl to prevent it from coming loose. Pierce 2-3 small holes in the plastic wrap with a toothpick or fork to allow steam to escape. (This step prevents the wrap from bursting or the egg dish from puffing up excessively.)
Step 5
Place the prepared bowl in the microwave and cook for approximately 6 minutes. Cooking time may vary slightly depending on your microwave’s wattage. It’s a good idea to check the consistency after about 5 minutes. If you’re halving the recipe, reduce the cooking time to 2 minutes and 30 seconds to 3 minutes. Carefully remove the hot steamed egg and enjoy!
