Essential Ingredients- 4 slices of bread
- 2 cups marshmallows
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- A little cornstarch (optional, for extra crispiness)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, cut the 4 slices of bread into small, bite-sized square pieces. Aim for about 1-2 cm cubes, as too small pieces might burn during baking. Cut the marshmallows into similar-sized pieces. Marshmallows can be sticky, so using a bread knife or a lightly dampened knife can make cutting easier.
Step 2
Preheat your oven to 90°C (194°F). Spread the cut bread pieces and marshmallows evenly on an oven tray, ensuring they don’t overlap too much. Baking at this low temperature for an extended period will make the bread crispy and the marshmallows melt into a chewy texture. Bake for approximately 30 minutes.
Step 3
Remove the baked bread and marshmallows from the oven and let them cool slightly. While they are still warm, sprinkle the 3 tablespoons of sugar evenly over them and gently mix. This sugar coating will add a subtle sweetness and help bind the pieces together. The warmth of the marshmallows will help the sugar adhere well.
Step 4
Spread the sugar-coated bread and marshmallow mixture thinly on the oven tray again. Increase the oven temperature slightly to 100°C (212°F) and bake for another 10 to 20 minutes. Keep a close eye on them to prevent the marshmallows from burning; you want them to turn a light golden brown, achieving a crispy yet chewy texture. Once done, let them cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
