Let’s start making delicious mackerel braised with green onion kimchi right away!
Basic Ingredients- A generous handful of well-fermented green onion kimchi
- 1 pack of fresh mackerel (cut into 3 portions)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, take out the green onion kimchi that you’ve deliciously prepared using SooMi-쌤’s recipe. This green onion kimchi has been a family favorite every time it’s made. Now, we’re going to use this precious kimchi to make the renowned rice-thief, mackerel braised.
Step 2
In a braising pot, first arrange the 3 portions of mackerel, which have been prepared for easy eating. Then, generously cover the mackerel with the prepared green onion kimchi. The kimchi will effectively remove any fishy smell from the mackerel and add a wonderful flavor.
Step 3
Pour in the delicious kimchi juice from the green onion kimchi, enough to make it soupy. If there isn’t enough juice, add a little fresh water to adjust the amount of braising liquid. Now, bring it to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium-low heat and let it simmer gently.
Step 4
While it’s cooking, spoon some of the braising liquid from the pot and drizzle it evenly over the mackerel and kimchi. This process will help the flavors distribute evenly and ensure the dish becomes moist and tender.
Step 5
As it cooks, a wonderful aroma will start to waft from the pot. This fragrant smell, created by the combination of mackerel and green onion kimchi, is truly appetite-stimulating. Your mouth is already watering!
Step 6
Once the liquid has reduced to a desired saucy consistency, your much-awaited ‘Mackerel Braised with Green Onion Kimchi’ is complete! The great appeal of this special dish is that it can be prepared quickly with just well-fermented green onion kimchi and fresh mackerel, without any other complicated seasoning ingredients. Serve it over hot steamed rice and enjoy!
