Main Ingredients- 100g wide-cut tofu noodles
- 1 handful shredded cabbage (approx. 100g)
- 100g frozen thinly sliced pork belly
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 scallion, chopped
- Small amount of carrot, julienned
Seasoning (Measurements: Tablespoon)- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 0.5 Tbsp minced garlic
- Pinch of black pepper
- Pinch of sesame seeds
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 0.5 Tbsp minced garlic
- Pinch of black pepper
- Pinch of sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash and prepare the vegetables for stir-frying. Thinly slice the onion and carrot, and diagonally chop the scallions. Prepping the vegetables like this will make the cooking process smoother.
Step 2
Gently rinse the tofu noodles under cold running water, drain them thoroughly in a colander. Be careful not to break the noodles while rinsing.
Step 3
Heat a pan over medium heat and add a moderate amount of cooking oil. First, add the chopped scallions and stir-fry until fragrant, releasing their aroma. Then, add the sliced onions and sauté until they become translucent and slightly sweet.
Step 4
Now, add the frozen thinly sliced pork belly to the pan. To effectively remove any gamey smell from the pork belly, grind about 10 twists of black peppercorns over it. The pepper’s pungent aroma will help mask any pork odor.
Step 5
It’s best to thaw frozen thinly sliced pork belly in the refrigerator before cooking for a more tender result. If using directly from frozen, after thawing, press it firmly with paper towels to absorb any excess moisture or blood before adding it to the pan. This prevents sticking, ensures even cooking, and results in a better texture.
Step 6
Once the pork belly is cooked to some extent and has changed color, add the shredded cabbage and julienned carrots. Stir-fry together until the vegetables soften slightly.
Step 7
Now, add all the seasoning ingredients to the pan. Add 0.5 Tbsp minced garlic, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, and 1 Tbsp oyster sauce for added umami. Stir-fry over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until the sauce evenly coats all the ingredients.
Step 8
Finally, add the drained tofu noodles to the pan. Be cautious not to overcook the tofu noodles, as they can become mushy or lose their texture. Gently stir-fry for just 1-2 minutes, allowing the noodles to get coated in the sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds for a nutty finish. Your healthy and delicious tofu noodle stir-fry is ready!
