- 2 bowls of multigrain rice
- 2 sticks of imitation crab meat (approx. 100g)
- 1 medium sweet potato
- 1/2 small carrot
- 60g celery (about 1 stalk)
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables and imitation crab sticks for the rice bowl. Shred or slice the imitation crab sticks into 5mm thick strips. Peel the sweet potato and carrot, and wash the celery thoroughly. Dice them into 5mm cubes, similar in size to the crab sticks, for a visually appealing and pleasant texture when cooked.
Step 2
Heat 1 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the prepared vegetables (carrot, sweet potato, celery) and stir-fry until they begin to soften slightly. Then, add the imitation crab sticks and stir-fry briefly. Be careful not to overcook the crab sticks, as they can become dry and tough.
Step 3
Pour 1 cup (200ml) of water into the pan with the sautéed ingredients. Cover the pan, reduce the heat to medium-low, and simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until the sweet potato and carrot are completely tender. You can check for doneness by piercing them with a fork; it should go in easily.

Once the vegetables are tender, add 1 Tbsp of soy sauce and 2 Tbsp of oyster sauce to season the mixture. Stir well to combine. Oyster sauce adds a rich umami flavor, and when combined with soy sauce, it creates a deeper, more complex taste.

Finally, prepare the cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce. In a small bowl, mix 1 Tbsp of cornstarch with 1 Tbsp of water until smooth, ensuring there are no lumps. Gradually pour this slurry into the simmering sauce while stirring continuously. Stop adding when you reach your desired consistency; too much can make the sauce gummy. Turn off the heat.
Step 6
