Ingredients
- 1/4 head of cabbage
- 2 strips of bacon
- 1/4 onion
- 1/2 stalk of green onion
- 1 handful of oyster mushrooms
Seasoning
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 0.8 Tbsp oyster sauce
- A pinch of black pepper
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 0.8 Tbsp oyster sauce
- A pinch of black pepper
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, finely chop the bacon into about 1cm pieces and dice the 1/4 onion. Adding bacon, tuna, or imitation crab sticks can make this dish more enjoyable and easier to eat.
Step 2
Trim any tough outer leaves from the cabbage and rinse the inner leaves thoroughly. Slice the cabbage thinly into shreds, about 0.5cm thick. The thinner the shreds, the softer and more harmonious the texture will be when cooked.
Step 3
Place the shredded cabbage in a bowl, add cold water, and gently swish it around to wash. This helps to effectively remove any bitterness or impurities from the cabbage. After washing, drain the cabbage well in a colander.
Step 4
Heat a frying pan over medium-low heat with a little cooking oil. Add the minced green onion and stir-fry until fragrant. Infusing the oil with green onion aroma will deepen the flavor of the dish.
Step 5
Once the green onion is fragrant, add the prepared bacon and onion to the pan and stir-fry over medium heat. Cook until the bacon renders its fat and the onion becomes translucent.
Step 6
Add the oyster mushrooms, which have been lightly blanched and torn into bite-sized pieces, to the pan and stir-fry together with the other ingredients. The chewy texture of the mushrooms adds another delightful element.
Step 7
Now, add all the drained shredded cabbage to the pan and stir-fry with the other ingredients. Don’t be alarmed if it looks like a lot; the volume will reduce significantly.
Step 8
As you stir-fry, the cabbage will wilt down, becoming tender and releasing its natural sweetness. Continue to cook until the cabbage is tender.
Step 9
When the cabbage has wilted to your liking, push the ingredients to one side of the pan. Pour 1 Tbsp of soy sauce into the empty space and let it bubble for a moment to caramelize slightly, then mix it thoroughly with the rest of the ingredients. This step enhances the deep flavor of the soy sauce.
Step 10
Add about 0.8 Tbsp of oyster sauce and mix well. Since this is a diet meal, the seasoning is kept light. Feel free to adjust the amount of soy sauce or oyster sauce to your preference.
Step 11
Once all the seasonings are well incorporated, freshly grind a pinch of black pepper and give it a final mix. Your delicious cabbage stir-fry is ready!
Step 12
Spoon a serving of warm rice into a bowl. Generously top the rice with the cooked cabbage and vegetable mixture.
Step 13
Place a fried egg (sunny-side up is recommended) in the center of the bowl, then drizzle sesame oil around it. This completes your light and flavorful cabbage rice bowl – a perfect, healthy meal!
