Lee Seung-yoon's Ramyeon-bap (Rabab) - A Homage

We’ve recreated the ‘Ramyeon-bap’, or ‘Rabab’, that the famous ‘Nature Man’ Lee Seung-yoon prepared for his manager on the TV show ‘Omniscient Interfering View’. Rumored to offer a distinct flavor profile from simply mixing rice into ramen, I was incredibly curious to try it. With just rice, ramen, and water required, I decided to embark on this culinary adventure. Come discover how to make this unique and satisfying dish!

Recipe Info

  • Category : Rice / Porridge / Rice cake
  • Ingredient Category : Rice
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Boil / Simmer
  • Servings : 1 serving
  • Cooking Time : Within 15 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Ingredients

  • 1 packet of instant ramen (your favorite brand)
  • 1 bowl of soaked rice (approx. 180g)
  • Water (about 1.2 times the amount of rice, plus adjusted for ramen soup)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, soak the rice in cold water for about 30 minutes. Soaking the rice beforehand will result in a much softer and fluffier cooked rice.

Step 1

Step 2

Place the soaked rice into a pot and add water. It’s crucial to add a bit more water than you would for regular pot-cooked rice. Since the ramen soup and noodles will absorb moisture, aim for about 0.2 times more water than usual. (The water level in the photo is for cooking plain rice; add more for this recipe.)

Step 2

Step 3

Add the ramen soup base and the dried vegetable flakes from the ramen packet into the pot with the soaked rice and mix well. Break the ramen noodles into smaller pieces before adding them; this helps the seasoning to permeate the rice and noodles more effectively, enhancing the flavor.

Step 3

Step 4

Now, place the pot over high heat and bring the water to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and continue to cook for about 5 minutes. You’ll start to smell the delicious aroma as the rice cooks.

Step 4

Step 5

When the water has mostly evaporated, reduce the heat to the lowest setting or turn it off completely. Cover the pot with a lid and let it steam for 2 minutes. Excluding the soaking time for the rice and the steaming time, preparing this ‘Rabab’ takes only about 10-12 minutes, making it incredibly quick! Enjoy your deliciously prepared Ramyeon-bap!
