Enjoy a Special Meal at Home: Air Fryer BBQ Pork Ribs Recipe – Perfect for Home Parties & Birthday Feasts
Today’s home cooking recipe is Air Fryer BBQ Pork Ribs, a universally loved dish! I spotted some fresh pork ribs at the supermarket on my way home and couldn’t resist grabbing two packs. BBQ ribs are a huge hit with everyone, from kids to adults, making them a fantastic choice for home parties or birthday meals! We used to make them quite often, but lately, with our family adjusting our diet, we’ve reduced our meat consumption and make these popular BBQ ribs less frequently. However, whenever we do make them, they disappear in an instant! With just an air fryer, anyone can easily make these. They are perfect for kids’ birthdays, home party food, weekend treats, or special birthday meals that the whole family will enjoy.

- 1 tsp sliced garlic
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/2 tsp whole peppercorns
- 2 Tbsp cooking wine (like Cheongju or Mirin)
BBQ Sauce- 3 Tbsp store-bought BBQ rib sauce
- 2 Tbsp ketchup
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp cooking wine (like Mirin)
- 2 Tbsp red wine (optional, substitute with more cooking wine or water if omitting)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, soak the pork ribs in cold water for about 30 minutes to 1 hour to remove any blood. Changing the water occasionally will ensure a cleaner taste. Once the blood is removed, carefully trim off the thin membrane (silverskin) from the back of the ribs using a knife or paper towel. Removing this membrane makes the ribs more tender and easier to eat after cooking.
Step 2
In a pot, add enough water to cover the ribs. Once the water starts boiling, add the sliced ginger to infuse the water with its aroma. When the water is at a rolling boil, add the green onion, sliced garlic, bay leaves, whole peppercorns, and cooking wine. These ingredients will help remove any gamey odors.
Step 3
Add the prepared ribs to the boiling water and blanch them over high heat for about 5 minutes. Then, reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to boil for another 20-25 minutes. This process helps remove impurities and any lingering unpleasant smells while ensuring the ribs become tender inside. After boiling, rinse the ribs under cold running water to wash off any residue and drain them thoroughly in a colander.
Step 4
Place the drained ribs into a zip-top bag or a large bowl. This will be where you marinate them.
Step 5
In a separate bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients: store-bought BBQ rib sauce, ketchup, soy sauce, cooking wine, red wine, garlic powder, and black pepper powder. Whisk them together until well combined to create a delicious BBQ sauce.
Step 6
Pour the prepared BBQ sauce over the ribs and coat them evenly. If using a zip-top bag, seal it tightly. If using a bowl, cover it with plastic wrap. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour, flipping the ribs halfway through to ensure even flavor penetration. For an even richer flavor, you can marinate them for 2-3 hours or longer.
Step 7
While the air fryer is preheating to 190℃ (375℉), place a piece of parchment paper on a baking pan, and then put a wire rack on top of it. Preheat these together in the air fryer. This method helps transfer the heat from the pan to the rack, contributing to crispier ribs. Once preheated, lightly spray the wire rack with cooking oil to prevent sticking. Arrange the marinated ribs on the rack and cook for about 10 minutes.
Step 8
After 10 minutes, flip the ribs over. Brush the top side with any remaining BBQ sauce. Continue to cook at 190℃ (375℉) for another 10 minutes, or until the ribs are beautifully glazed and cooked through. Enjoy your delicious BBQ pork ribs that are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! Serving them with some wedge potatoes is also a great idea.
