Joyful Sandwich Made Together with Your Baby

After a slight setback with our attempt at making kimbap, we decided to try making sandwiches with my baby. We had a lot of fun making them, and they turned out delicious! This recipe is perfect for a fun and engaging cooking experience with little ones.

Ingredients for Our Baby’s Sandwich

  • 2 medium potatoes
  • 3 fresh eggs
  • 1-2 slices of baby cheese
  • 2 slices of milk bread (soft white bread)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare the soft filling for our sandwich. Wash 2 potatoes thoroughly and place them with 3 fresh eggs in a steamer. Once the water is boiling, steam for about 20 minutes, or until both the potatoes and eggs are cooked through and tender. Allow them to cook until soft.

Step 1

Step 2

Once the ingredients are steamed, carefully remove them. Now, have your 2 steamed potatoes, 3 boiled eggs, baby cheese slices, and 2 slices of soft milk bread ready. When cooking with a baby, it’s best for an adult to handle hot items for safety.

Step 2

Step 3

It’s time to mash the filling together with your baby! Peel the warm steamed potatoes and place them with the boiled eggs in a bowl. Let your baby try mashing them with a fork – this is a great way to involve them. If your baby enjoys peeling things, you can make it even more fun by doing the peeling together.

Step 3

Step 4

The mashing process can be an exciting experience for your little one. If you have a potato masher, let your baby hold it and watch their wonder as the soft potatoes are mashed. It’s ideal if your baby holds the masher or fork with one hand, while you gently assist with the other to mash everything smoothly.

Step 4

Step 5

The crusts of the bread can sometimes be tough for little ones to eat. Using a safe bread knife, let your baby try cutting off the edges of the bread with your supervision. This activity helps develop fine motor skills and gives them a sense of accomplishment.

Step 5

Step 6

Now, let’s assemble the sandwich! Place a slice of soft baby cheese on one slice of bread, then generously spread the mashed potato and egg mixture on top. Adding plenty of the filling, as much as your baby likes, will make it even more delicious.

Step 6

Step 7

For your baby, serve the completed sandwich with fresh strawberries and a glass of milk instead of strawberry jam for a nutritious snack. For the grown-ups, you can add adult cheese and strawberry jam to your sandwiches for a richer flavor! A sandwich made with your child will surely taste even more special and delicious.
