First, prepare your bread. If you have a loaf of bread, use it as is. If you’re using regular sliced bread, prepare 3 slices. Use one slice whole for the bottom layer. For the other two slices, use a knife to carefully cut them into a grid pattern, making cuts about 1.5 cm apart, like a chessboard. This scoring allows the honey and butter to soak deeper into the bread, making it even more delicious.

Now, let’s prepare the butter. Let the butter soften at room temperature for a bit until it’s pliable. Slice it thinly. Gently insert these thin butter slices into the cuts you made in the bread. As the butter melts, it will infuse the bread with rich flavor.

Next, it’s time for the sweet honey. Drizzle a generous amount of honey over all surfaces of the bread, especially into the cuts and between the butter slices. Last time I made this, I used too much honey, and the bottom slice became overly sweet, which was a bit much. I recommend adjusting the amount to your preference. Let the honey soak in for a moment for even better flavor.

Finally, place the bread, coated thoroughly with butter and honey, into the air fryer. Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper, place the bread on top, and air fry at 180°C (350°F) for about 7 to 10 minutes. The bread is ready when the top is golden brown and the butter has melted and is dripping. You can sprinkle sliced almonds or cinnamon powder during cooking for an enhanced flavor. Once done, a dusting of powdered sugar makes for a cafe-worthy homemade honey bread. It’s best enjoyed warm right away!
