Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare the star of your delicious fajitas: the beef. Gently pat the beef dry with paper towels. Then, in a bowl, combine 4 tablespoons of pure olive oil, 2 tablespoons of salt, a pinch of pepper, and a pinch of rosemary. Mix well to coat the beef evenly. Cover the seasoned beef with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes for a deeper flavor.

Step 1

Step 2

Now, for the fresh vegetables. Wash and thoroughly dry the cabbage or lettuce leaves. Slice them as thinly as possible into shreds. The thinner the shreds, the more tender and pleasant the texture will be.

Step 2

Step 3

To enhance the crispiness of the shredded lettuce, soak it in cold water for about 10 minutes. Afterward, drain it well in a colander, ensuring all excess water is removed. This step prevents too much moisture from releasing when sautéing or grilling.

Step 3

Step 4

Next, let’s cook the bacon for added flavor. Heat a dry pan over medium-low heat and place the bacon strips in it. Cook, flipping occasionally, until golden brown and slightly crispy. The key is to cook it enough to render some fat without burning it.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the bacon is crisped, transfer it to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess grease. After draining, cut the bacon into strips about 0.5cm thick.

Step 5

Step 6

Lightly toast the tortillas. Heat a dry pan over low heat and warm each tortilla for a few seconds on each side. Be careful not to overcook, as they can become stiff. You want them pliable.

Step 6

Step 7

Feel free to add other vegetables you enjoy! If you have other veggies in your fridge, such as carrots or other bell peppers, slice them lengthwise into pieces about 5mm thick.

Step 7

Step 8

It’s time to sauté the vegetables. Add a little olive oil to the pan over medium heat and stir-fry the sliced vegetables. Season with 1 teaspoon of salt and about 3 twists of whole pepper. Cook just until the vegetables are slightly tender but still retain some crispness.

Step 8

Step 9

Now for the main event: cooking the beef. Pour about half a cup of olive oil into a pan and heat it over high heat until very hot. Add the marinated beef and sear it quickly on both sides, almost like frying, to lock in the juices. Cooking over high heat seals the exterior while keeping the inside tender and moist.

Step 9

Step 10

Once the beef is cooked to your desired doneness, remove it from the pan and slice it into bite-sized pieces, about the length of two fingers. This size makes it easy to wrap in the tortillas.

Step 10

Step 11

Serving with homemade salsa, sour cream, and teriyaki sauce will make your fajitas even more special. While making the sauces from scratch requires extra time and effort, it rewards you with exceptional flavor. It’s a delightful dish that sometimes rivals expensive steaks, perfect for occasional indulgence! Enjoy your meal!
