Homemade Sweetness of Spring: Affogato Recipe
DIY Cafe-Quality Affogato Made Easy
Affogato at cafes can be quite pricey, so I started making it at home and it turned out so delicious that I’ve been making it every week! My mom absolutely loves it too. ꒰◍ॢ•ᴗ•◍ॢ꒱
Ingredients- Vanilla ice cream, 5 Tbsp
- 1 cookie that pairs well with coffee (e.g., Lotus, Kookoo Das)
- 1 shot of espresso
- Corn flakes or almond flakes, 1 Tbsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare a nice bowl or glass for your affogato. Scoop about 5 tablespoons of creamy vanilla ice cream into it. The ice cream will taste even better if it’s just starting to soften.
Step 2
Now, let’s add a crunchy cookie for an extra layer of texture and flavor. Choose a cookie that complements coffee well, like Lotus biscuits or Kookoo Das, and place it attractively on top of the ice cream. This adds a beautiful visual touch.
Step 3
We’ll add a crunchy topping over the sweet ice cream. Sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of sweet corn flakes, or for a nutty flavor, use almond flakes. You can also use other nuts if you prefer.
Step 4
Finally, the star of the affogato: espresso! Pour 1 shot of rich espresso over the ice cream, and it’s ready! If you don’t have an espresso machine, you can make a great substitute by dissolving instant coffee (like Kanu) in just a tiny bit of hot water. The combination of warm coffee and cold ice cream is truly delightful!
