Homemade Sweet Strawberry Syrup
Easy Strawberry Syrup Recipe for Everyone
Strawberries are in season right now! ^^ Make some strawberry syrup and stock up your fridge. ^^ It’s delicious mixed with yogurt smoothies or plain yogurt. ^^
Ingredients- 500g Strawberries
- 500g Sugar
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Start by preparing 500g of fresh strawberries. Before washing them under running water, soak them in a bowl with a few drops of vinegar for about 5 minutes. This helps to remove any pesticides or impurities. After soaking, rinse the strawberries thoroughly under cold running water, then carefully remove the green stems.
Step 2
Place the cleaned and hulled strawberries into a pot or bowl. Using a spatula or a fork, gently mash the strawberries. It’s nice to leave some texture, so don’t mash them into a completely smooth paste. A slightly chunky texture will add more depth to your strawberry syrup.
Step 3
Add 500g of sugar to the mashed strawberries. You can adjust the amount of sugar slightly, perhaps between 450g to 500g, depending on the sweetness of your strawberries and your personal preference. Stir well until the sugar is evenly distributed throughout the strawberries. Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes, or until the sugar has completely dissolved.
Step 4
Prepare a clean glass jar or container by sterilizing it, either by boiling or washing thoroughly. Once sterilized, carefully transfer the prepared strawberry syrup into the jar and seal it tightly with a lid. Store the syrup in the refrigerator. It’s best to let it mature for at least a day before using. Enjoy it by the spoonful over plain yogurt for a delightful sweet and tangy treat! It’s also wonderful spread on toast or mixed with sparkling water to make a refreshing strawberry ade.
