Homemade Sweet & Crispy Croffles
Cafe-Worthy Home Cafe Dessert: Super Easy Croffle Recipe
Whip up a trendy cafe dessert, ‘Croffles,’ effortlessly using frozen croissant dough! Croffles are made by baking croissants in a waffle maker. If you have a waffle iron or pan, you can easily make these delightful treats at home. Enjoy the satisfyingly crispy exterior and chewy interior for a special dessert time.
Ingredients- 100g frozen croissant dough
- 2 Tbsp maple syrup
- 2 Tbsp powdered sugar
- 1/2 Excellent ice cream bar
- 10g chopped nuts
- 5g fresh mint leaves (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let the frozen croissant dough sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes to thaw slightly, making it easier to shape for the waffle pan. While the dough is thawing, preheat your waffle pan or waffle maker over medium-low heat for about 2 minutes. Once preheated, carefully place the thawed croissant dough onto the center of the waffle pan, ensuring it’s spread out evenly.
Step 2
Close the lid of the waffle pan and cook for approximately 6 minutes. You’ll see the croissant puff up and turn golden brown. If you prefer an extra crispy texture, you can continue to cook it for a few more minutes, but keep a close eye on it to prevent burning.
Step 3
Cooking for a total of about 9 minutes will yield a wonderfully crispy croffle with a beautiful golden-brown exterior. Once perfectly cooked, carefully remove the croffle from the waffle pan.
Step 4
Transfer the cooked croffles to a plate and let them cool slightly. Croffles become crispier as they cool, so allowing them to rest for a few minutes will enhance their texture. While delicious warm, a short cooling period maximizes crispiness.
Step 5
Arrange the cooled croffles on a serving plate. Slice the ‘Excellent’ ice cream bar in half and place one half on top of the croffle. The contrast between the warm croffle and the cold, creamy ice cream is delightful.
Step 6
Drizzle the maple syrup generously over the croffle and ice cream. The rich, sweet flavor of the maple syrup will beautifully complement the pastry.
Step 7
Finally, dust the croffle with powdered sugar through a sieve for a decorative touch. Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top for added crunch and nutty flavor. Garnish with fresh mint leaves for a pop of color and freshness. Enjoy your homemade cafe-style croffles!
