Ingredients- Peeled Chestnuts: 600g
- Brown Sugar: 200g
- Honey: 120g
- Water: 300ml
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, place the 600g of peeled chestnuts into a pot. Add enough water to fully cover the chestnuts. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for a total of 25 minutes, or until the chestnuts are tender. Boiling them this way enhances their natural sweetness and softens their texture.
Step 2
Once the chestnuts are cooked, drain them and transfer them to a blender. Add the 300ml of water and blend until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy, with no lumps. Adjust blending time based on your blender’s power.
Step 3
For an even smoother and more refined texture, you can strain the blended chestnut mixture through a fine-mesh sieve. This step removes any remaining small lumps, resulting in a luxurious, melt-in-your-mouth consistency.
Step 4
In a clean pot, combine the 200g of brown sugar and 120g of honey. Over low heat, stir gently with a spatula or spoon until the sugar and honey are completely dissolved. Be careful not to scorch them by using too high heat.
Step 5
Once the sugar and honey are fully melted, gradually add the pureed chestnut mixture, 2-3 portions at a time, stirring well to ensure there are no clumps. Continue to cook over low heat, stirring constantly with a spatula, until the chestnut paste reaches your desired thick consistency. Stirring prevents it from sticking to the bottom of the pot. Your delicious homemade chestnut paste is ready! Pour it into jars while still warm and allow to cool.
