Sandwich Ingredients

  • 2 slices Rye bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 dill pickle
  • 1 slice Cheddar cheese

Egg Salad Dressing

  • 2 Tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 1/2 Tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Sugar
  • Pinch of Black pepper (about 3 shakes)
  • Pinch of Dried parsley (about 5 shakes)
  • 3 pinches Salt

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the star of your sandwich: the eggs. Place the eggs in a pot and cover them with water. Once the water boils, carefully add the eggs and cook for 10-12 minutes for hard-boiled eggs. Immediately transfer the cooked eggs to cold water to stop the cooking process, then peel them. (If you prefer a softer yolk, you can cook them for less time!)

Step 1

Step 2

Prepare the pickles for a refreshing crunch. Slice the dill pickle thinly. Gently pat the pickle slices dry to prevent the sandwich from becoming soggy.

Step 2

Step 3

In a bowl, place 2 of the peeled hard-boiled eggs. Use the back of a fork or the side of a knife to mash them. Add the mayonnaise, lemon juice, sugar, salt, black pepper, and dried parsley. Mix everything together thoroughly until well combined to create your egg salad filling.

Step 3

Step 4

Now it’s time to assemble the sandwich. Lay a slice of rye bread flat. Place the slice of Cheddar cheese on top. Arrange the thinly sliced pickles over the cheese. Spread a generous layer of the prepared egg salad over the pickles. You can either coarsely chop or mash the remaining 2 hard-boiled eggs and place them on top of the egg salad. Finish with another layer of egg salad, then top with the second slice of rye bread.

Step 4

Step 5

To keep everything neatly together, wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap or parchment paper. Once securely wrapped, slice the sandwich in half or diagonally with a sharp knife. Your hearty, visually appealing egg sandwich is now ready to be enjoyed as a satisfying meal!
