Essential Ingredients- 2 potatoes
- 1 can tuna
- 1 Cheongyang chili pepper
- 1 stalk green onion
- 1 onion
Seasoning Ingredients- 1 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- Water (as needed)
- 1 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- Water (as needed)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the ingredients. Wash the potatoes thoroughly and cut them into thick, bite-sized pieces, about 2cm thick. Avoid cutting them too thin, as they might fall apart. Finely chop the green onion and Cheongyang chili pepper for added flavor, and slice the onion.
Step 2
Now, let’s start stewing. Layer the thickly cut potatoes at the bottom of a pot. Top with the sliced onions and the drained canned tuna.
Step 3
Rinse the tuna can and add water three times to fill the pot. This is Chef Baek’s clever tip to utilize the flavorful tuna oil for the broth!
Step 4
Add all the seasoning ingredients: gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, minced garlic, and sugar. Also, add the chopped green onion and Cheongyang chili pepper. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium-low heat. Let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the flavors have melded together. Finish by drizzling in sesame oil for extra aroma. Your delicious Tuna and Potato Stew is ready!
