Perfect for lunchboxes or a satisfying breakfast! These hearty ground beef rice balls are a fantastic way to pack a nutritious meal. They’re also a hit as a snack for kids!
Main Ingredients- 200g ground beef
- 2 bowls of warm cooked rice
- 1/4 carrot, finely diced
- 1/4 onion, finely diced
- 1 green bell pepper, seeds removed and finely diced
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, place the 200g of ground beef in a bowl. Add a pinch of salt and a pinch of black pepper, then mix gently with your hands to season. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes; this helps tenderize the beef and remove any gamey odors.
Step 2
Heat a pan over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. Add the finely diced carrot, onion, and green bell pepper. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until the vegetables soften slightly and become fragrant. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become mushy.
Step 3
Once the vegetables are partially cooked, add the marinated ground beef to the pan. Use a chopstick or fork to break up the meat and cook until it’s fully browned. If excess oil renders, you can gently drain it with a paper towel for a lighter taste.
Step 4
In a separate bowl, combine the 2 bowls of warm cooked rice. Add 1 teaspoon of toasted sesame seeds, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, and a pinch of salt. Gently mix with a spatula, being careful not to mash the rice grains. It’s best to let the rice cool slightly before mixing so it doesn’t clump.
Step 5
Add the sautéed ground beef and vegetable mixture to the seasoned rice. Mix everything thoroughly, ensuring the beef and rice are well combined. It’s important to mix gently to keep the rice grains intact.
Step 6
Now, scoop out portions of the mixture and shape them into round or your desired rice ball shape. Lightly wetting your hands with water or a bit of sesame oil will prevent the rice from sticking, making shaping much easier. Your delicious ground beef rice balls are now ready to enjoy!
