Main Ingredients- 100g ground beef
- 4 mini king oyster mushrooms
- 1/4 onion
- 1 Korean green chili pepper (cheongyang pepper)
- 1 cup water (approx. 200ml)
Seasoning Ingredients- 4 Tbsp doenjang (Korean soybean paste)
- 2 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 Tbsp minced scallion
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- A pinch of sesame seeds
- 4 Tbsp doenjang (Korean soybean paste)
- 2 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 Tbsp minced scallion
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- A pinch of sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables. Finely mince the onion. Mince the mini king oyster mushrooms into similar-sized pieces. For the green chili pepper, remove the seeds if you prefer less heat, then finely chop it.
Step 2
Heat a pan over medium heat and add a splash of cooking oil. Add the ground beef and break it up with your spoon to prevent clumping. Stir-fry the beef until it’s browned all over.
Step 3
Once the beef is partially cooked, add the minced onion, minced mushrooms, and chopped green chili pepper to the pan. Sauté everything together until the vegetables soften and become translucent. Pour in 1 cup (approx. 200ml) of water and bring it to a simmer.
Step 4
When the vegetables are tender and the liquid has reduced slightly, stir in 4 Tbsp of doenjang, 2 Tbsp of gochujang, 1 Tbsp of minced scallion, and 1 Tbsp of minced garlic. Mix well. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer gently, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Step 5
Once the ssamjang has reached your desired consistency, turn off the heat. Stir in 1 Tbsp of sesame oil for extra aroma and flavor, and sprinkle with sesame seeds to finish. Serve warm with rice or fresh lettuce wraps for a delicious meal!
