  • Ingredient Category : Dried seafood
  • Occasion : Nutritious food
  • Cooking : Boil / Simmer
  • Servings : 4 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 60 minutes
  • Difficulty : Intermediate

Main Ingredients

  • Dried seaweed 20g (pre-cut)
  • Store-bought beef bone broth (meat excluded) 1kg
  • Water 1 liter

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, rinse the dried seaweed thoroughly under running water to remove any debris. If you have large pieces, pre-cut seaweed is more convenient. Squeeze out excess water from the rinsed seaweed.

Step 1

Step 2

Heat 2 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pot over medium-low heat. Add the prepared seaweed and stir-fry until fragrant and slightly softened, about 2-3 minutes. This process helps remove any fishy odor and enhances the nutty flavor of the seaweed.

Step 2

Step 3

Pour in the 1kg of store-bought beef bone broth and 1 liter of water. Bring to a boil over high heat. Using beef bone broth makes it easy to achieve a rich, deep flavor without needing to prepare a separate broth from scratch.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the soup comes to a rolling boil, add 1 Tbsp of minced garlic. Garlic adds depth and enhances the savory notes of the soup.

Step 4

Step 5

Reduce the heat to medium and let it simmer gently for about 40 minutes. This long simmering time allows the seaweed to become tender and the flavors to meld beautifully. Once the seaweed is tender, stir in 1 Tbsp of soup soy sauce for a rich umami taste.

Step 5

Step 6

After adding the soy sauce, adjust the seasoning with salt as needed. It’s best to add salt gradually to reach your desired taste preference.

Step 6

Step 7

Just before turning off the heat, drizzle in 1/2 tsp of sesame oil. The aromatic sesame oil adds a final touch of richness. Serve this delicious seaweed soup hot and enjoy!
