Main Ingredients- Beef (for soup) 270g
- Dried seaweed, cut 2 handfuls (approx. 20g)
Seasoning & Condiments- Fish sauce (or soy sauce for soup) 2 Tbsp
- Salt to taste (adjust as needed)
- Sesame oil 2 Tbsp

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, soak the dried, cut seaweed in cold water for about 15-20 minutes until fully rehydrated. Rinse the softened seaweed thoroughly under running water to remove any sand or impurities. Then, drain it well in a colander, pressing out excess water. Be careful not to oversoak, as it can make the broth cloudy.
Step 2
In a pot, combine the drained seaweed and the beef. Add the fish sauce (or soup soy sauce) 2 Tbsp, salt 1 tsp (or a pinch, you can add more later to taste), and sesame oil 2 Tbsp. Gently mix everything together to ensure the seasonings coat the seaweed and beef.
Step 3
Place the pot over medium heat and sauté the ingredients for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. This sautéing step is crucial as it deepens the umami flavor of the seaweed and the richness of the beef, resulting in a much more flavorful broth. Continue to stir-fry until the beef is no longer pink on the outside.
Step 4
Once the ingredients are well sautéed, pour in 2 liters of water and bring to a boil over high heat. When the soup starts boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the pot, and let it simmer gently for about 15-20 minutes. This allows the seaweed and beef to become tender and the flavors to meld beautifully. Taste the soup and adjust the seasoning with more fish sauce, salt, or a touch of soy sauce if needed, according to your preference.
