Main Ingredients- 150g can of tuna (including oil)
- 200g soaked rice (approx. 1 cup)
- 1.5L water (approx. 7.5 cups)
Fresh Vegetables- 1 shiitake mushroom (small)
- 30g carrot (approx. 1/5 of a carrot)
- 1/2 onion (small)
- 1/3 zucchini (small)
Flavor Enhancers- 2 Tbsp tuna extract (soy sauce can be substituted)
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1-2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 shiitake mushroom (small)
- 30g carrot (approx. 1/5 of a carrot)
- 1/2 onion (small)
- 1/3 zucchini (small)
Flavor Enhancers- 2 Tbsp tuna extract (soy sauce can be substituted)
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1-2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
**[Prepare Ingredients]** Utilize any leftover chopped vegetables you have in your refrigerator to make a nutrient-rich tuna and vegetable porridge. Frozen vegetables work well too!
Step 2
**[Soak the Rice]** Rinse the rice under running water until clean. Soak it in water for 1 hour until well softened. Afterward, drain the rice in a sieve, retaining some of the soaking water, which can be useful later.
Step 3
**[Dice the Vegetables]** Finely dice 1 shiitake mushroom, 30g of carrot, 1/3 of a zucchini, and 1/2 an onion. Dicing the vegetables small will help them meld beautifully into the porridge.

**[Utilize Tuna Oil]** Open the can of tuna and pour the oil into a pan. This oil will add a wonderful depth of flavor to your porridge.

As the porridge cooks, you’ll notice the rice grains starting to split open. This is a good sign that they are softening and breaking down beautifully.

**[Add Vegetables]** Once the rice has softened sufficiently, add all the diced vegetables to the pot and cook until they are tender. Ensure that harder vegetables like carrots are fully cooked.

**[Season]** When the vegetables are cooked, stir in 2 Tbsp of tuna extract, a pinch of black pepper, and 1-2 Tbsp of toasted sesame seeds to season. Adjust the taste with salt if needed.
