Main Ingredients

  • 8 pieces of Inari sushi pockets (Aburaage)
  • 205g Firm Tofu (1 block)
  • 2 strips of Gimbap pickled radish
  • 1/2 Tbsp Sushi vinegar seasoning
  • 1 packet of seasoned sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the inari sushi pockets, seasoned sesame seeds, and sushi vinegar seasoning that come with the inari sushi kit. You will also need 2 strips of gimbap-style pickled radish and 1 block of tofu. Ensure the tofu is ready for use.

Step 1

Step 2

Finely julienne the gimbap-style pickled radish. You can adjust the amount of pickled radish based on the quantity of tofu you’re using, which will allow you to enjoy a richer flavor in your tofu inari sushi.

Step 2

Step 3

Place the tofu in a cheesecloth or paper towel and firmly press to squeeze out as much water as possible. Removing excess water is key to achieving a crumbly texture when stir-frying.

Step 3

Step 4

Transfer the squeezed tofu to a dry pan and place it over medium heat on the stovetop. Stir-frying without oil is the essential technique here.

Step 4

Step 5

While stir-frying over medium heat, break up the tofu with a spatula to prevent clumping. Continue cooking until all the moisture has evaporated and the tofu is dry and crumbly. You’ll notice a pleasant, nutty aroma of toasted tofu.

Step 5

Step 6

In a mixing bowl, add the stir-fried tofu first. Then, add about 60% of the finely julienned pickled radish. The pickled radish adds a delightful texture and a refreshing tang to the filling.

Step 6

Step 7

Next, add the packet of seasoned sesame seeds from the inari sushi kit and about half a tablespoon of the sushi vinegar seasoning. It’s best to add the sushi vinegar seasoning gradually while tasting, rather than all at once, to suit your preference.

Step 7

Step 8

Using a spoon or spatula, mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined. Taste the mixture. If it feels a bit bland, add a tiny pinch of salt or more of the remaining pickled radish. If you desire more tanginess, add a little more sushi vinegar seasoning. (Important Note: If you add too much pickled radish relative to the tofu, the sushi might become too salty. Be mindful not to add an excessive amount of pickled radish from the start!)

Step 8

Step 9

Gently open each inari sushi pocket and carefully stuff it with the prepared tofu mixture. You’ve now successfully made delicious tofu inari sushi! The number of sushi rolls you can make will vary depending on how much filling you put into each pocket. Enjoy your healthy creation!
