Healthy Steamed Pork and Vegetables: A Light and Satisfying Diet Recipe
Easy Homemade Steamed Pork and Vegetable Dish – Recommended Diet Recipe
This steamed pork and vegetable recipe is a light and satisfying way to enjoy plenty of vegetables along with your meat. It’s incredibly convenient to make because there’s no need for separate seasoning. Enjoy a delicious and healthy meal that’s perfect for a diet-conscious lifestyle.
Ingredients- 500g thinly sliced pork for shabu-shabu (choose leaner cuts)
- 150g enoki mushrooms (or king oyster mushrooms, your preference)
- 1 bunch of bok choy (washed thoroughly)
- Napa cabbage leaves
- Carrot
- Dipping sauces (e.g., black sesame sauce, coconut sriracha sauce)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by thoroughly washing the bok choy. Trim the tough root ends and cut the leaves into bite-sized pieces, about 3-4 cm long. Place the cut bok choy into a large bowl.
Step 2
Prepare the mushrooms: trim the base of the enoki mushrooms and separate the strands. Rinse them lightly under running water. Add the prepared mushrooms to the bowl. Cut the napa cabbage into manageable pieces and add them, along with thinly sliced or julienned carrots, to the same bowl. Gently toss the vegetables together to combine.
Step 3
Place the 500g of thinly sliced pork, suitable for shabu-shabu, into a separate dish. Its thinness ensures it cooks quickly and remains tender.
Step 4
Combine the prepared vegetables and the pork in the large bowl. Gently mix them together with your hands, ensuring they are evenly distributed and not clumped. Be careful not to overmix, as this can break down the meat.
Step 5
In a wide pot, bring a generous amount of water to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, place a steamer rack or bamboo steamer over the pot. Arrange the mixed pork and vegetables evenly on the steamer. Spreading them out prevents overcrowding and ensures even cooking.
Step 6
Cover the steamer with a large lid or bowl to trap the steam. This will help the ingredients cook more moistly and tenderly. Reduce the heat to medium and steam for approximately 15-20 minutes.
Step 7
Periodically lift the lid to check on the progress of the steaming. Ensure the pork is cooked through and the vegetables are tender. You can adjust the cooking time as needed. The natural juices from the pork will infuse into the vegetables, enhancing their flavor.
Step 8
Prepare your favorite dipping sauces. Having a couple of options, such as a savory black sesame sauce or a spicy and sweet coconut sriracha sauce, will allow for a more diverse tasting experience.
Step 9
Serve the perfectly steamed pork and vegetable dish generously plated. Dip the pieces into your chosen sauces for a wonderful meal that highlights the natural flavors of the ingredients. Enjoy this simple yet incredibly healthy dish!
