Accompanied by fresh salad greens and fruits, you can create a visually stunning and delicious meal.
Main Ingredients- 200g Wild Salmon Fillet
- A small amount of fresh salad greens
- Assorted fresh fruits (to your preference)
- Salt (to taste)
- Olive oil (for cooking)
- Black pepper (to taste)
Special Soy Glaze- 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 3 Tbsp Mirin (or cooking sake)
- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 Tbsp Corn Syrup (or Oligodang)
- A tiny bit of grated ginger (about 1/4 tsp)
- 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 3 Tbsp Mirin (or cooking sake)
- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 Tbsp Corn Syrup (or Oligodang)
- A tiny bit of grated ginger (about 1/4 tsp)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the salmon fillet. Gently pat the salmon dry with paper towels. Then, season both sides and the edges evenly with salt and pepper. Finally, lightly coat the salmon surface with olive oil and gently massage it in. This step helps keep the salmon moist and adds to its flavor.
Step 2
Now, let’s make the special soy glaze that will bring out the best in your salmon steak. In a small bowl, combine 3 Tbsp soy sauce, 3 Tbsp mirin, 1/2 Tbsp sugar, 1/2 Tbsp corn syrup, and a tiny amount of grated ginger. Stir until all ingredients are well combined. The ginger will help eliminate any fishy odor and add a pleasant aroma.
Step 3
Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat with a little olive oil. Place the seasoned salmon fillet, skin-side down first, and sear for about 3-4 minutes until the skin is nicely crisped. Flip the salmon and sear the other side until golden brown. Ensure both sides are evenly cooked.
Step 4
Once both sides of the salmon are golden brown, pour the prepared soy glaze into the frying pan. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the sauce simmer, allowing it to reduce and coat the salmon. You can tilt the pan to spoon the sauce over the salmon, or gently flip the salmon with a spatula to ensure it’s evenly glazed. Turn off the heat when the sauce has thickened slightly and coats the salmon with a glossy sheen. Be careful not to over-reduce, as it might become too salty.
Step 5
Finally, arrange the finished salmon steak beautifully on a plate. Serve with fresh salad greens and some attractively cut seasonal fruits for a presentation worthy of a restaurant. Enjoy immediately while warm for the best taste.
