Homemade Kids’ Snack: ‘Popcorn’ with a Healthy Twist
We’ve created a healthier snack for toddlers by adding a touch of sweetness with maple syrup to our Non-GMO popcorn kernels. This recipe offers a delightful, wholesome treat that kids will love!
Ingredients- 50g popcorn kernels (Non-GMO)
- 1-2 tbsp butter (or 1-2 pieces)
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your popcorn maker. While it might not feel the most durable, it offers great value and, most importantly, makes popcorn surprisingly well! Alternatively, a frying pan also works perfectly fine.
Step 2
You can prepare as much popcorn as you like. For a popcorn maker, filling the included spoon to the brim once is usually enough to make a generous batch that two children can enjoy.
Step 3
Place the popcorn kernels into the maker and turn it on using the power button located on the bottom right. For even better results and quicker popping, preheat the maker for about 30 seconds before starting.
Step 4
Most of the kernels will pop beautifully. However, any unpopped or partially popped kernels can be separated and popped again in the maker, or set aside.
Step 5
In a frying pan, melt the unsalted butter and maple syrup together. Let the mixture cool slightly, then add the popped popcorn and toss gently to coat evenly. Note: Using syrup alone can sometimes result in slightly soggy popcorn. Using butter in a similar quantity to the syrup can help reduce this sogginess.
Step 6
Serve in a bowl or a tall popcorn container for a complete presentation. Enjoy your homemade popcorn!
