A Sophisticated Oven-Baked Potato Recipe, Healthier than French Fries

Healthy and Delicious Oven-Baked Potatoes

Many people love French fries, right? Our family is no exception. We always keep various kinds of frozen fries on hand and bake them in the oven for brunch or with hamburgers. However, potatoes themselves have a high GI, and fried food is high in calories. Plus, additives are used to achieve that crispy texture, and it’s not something we can eat often. I was struggling to limit them because they kept asking for fries. So, I tried making these baked potatoes for brunch, and they disappeared in the blink of an eye! They look and taste even better than regular French fries, and they’re also great as a beer snack.

Main Ingredients

  • 6 Potatoes (about 700g)

Seasoning Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Olive Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 Tbsp Dried Parsley
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, preheat your oven to 400°F (approximately 200°C to 205°C). Getting the oven ready is the crucial first step!

Step 1

Step 2

Peel and wash the potatoes thoroughly. You can leave the skins on if you prefer, but peeling them will result in a softer texture.

Step 2

Step 3

Cut each potato in half lengthwise, just like you would an apple. Then, cut each half into 3-4 wedges, depending on the size, to create uniform “potato wedges”. Ensuring they are all cut to a similar size will help them bake evenly.

Step 3

Step 4

In a large bowl, combine all the seasoning ingredients: olive oil, minced garlic, dried parsley, and salt. Mix them well to create a flavorful marinade.

Step 4

Step 5

Add the cut potatoes to the bowl with the seasoning. Using your hands (wearing disposable gloves is recommended!), toss the potatoes thoroughly to ensure each piece is evenly coated with the seasoning. This even coating is key to delicious flavor.

Step 5

Step 6

Arrange the seasoned potatoes on a baking sheet or oven tray. Make sure they are in a single layer and not overlapping. This arrangement allows for even cooking and maximum crispiness.

Step 6

Step 7

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes. For even browning and crispiness, you can flip the potatoes halfway through the baking time. Adjust the baking time based on the size of your potato wedges and your oven’s performance.

Step 7

Step 8

Your delicious oven-baked potatoes are now ready! Serve them warm for a delightful treat that rivals freshly fried French fries in both taste and appeal.
