A Delicious Hawaiian-Style Hamburger Steak Bowl, Perfect for a Rice Meal
I recently discovered a Hawaiian dish called ‘Loco Moco’ and was inspired to create my own version. While not strictly traditional, this is my take on a Hawaiian-style hamburger steak, designed to be enjoyed over rice with a flavorful sauce. It’s a comforting and satisfying meal, perfect for any occasion.
Main Ingredients- 2 Hamburger Steak Patties (refer to recipe @6887635 for making)
- 2 Eggs
- 2 slices Grilled Pineapple
- 1.5 cups Cooked Rice
Sauce- 1 King Oyster Mushroom
- 100ml Water
- 2 Tbsp Tomato Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Ketchup
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
- 2 pinches Salt
- Black Pepper to taste
- 1 King Oyster Mushroom
- 100ml Water
- 2 Tbsp Tomato Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Ketchup
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
- 2 pinches Salt
- Black Pepper to taste
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the hamburger steak patties. For the detailed patty recipe, please refer to: @6887635.
Step 2
In a dry pan, grill the pineapple slices over medium heat until golden brown on both sides. In a separate pan with a little oil, cook the hamburger steak patties until nicely browned and cooked through.
Step 3
Fry the eggs to your preference, aiming for a sunny-side-up with a slightly runny yolk. This will add a rich, creamy element to the bowl.
Step 4
To make the sauce, heat a little olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced king oyster mushroom and sauté until softened and slightly browned. This will bring out their savory flavor.
Step 5
Once the mushrooms are tender, add the water, tomato sauce, ketchup, soy sauce, and sugar. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Let it cook until the sauce has thickened slightly. Taste and adjust the seasoning: add more sugar if it’s too tart, and a pinch of salt if needed. Finish with a good grind of black pepper.
Step 6
Assemble your Hawaiian-style hamburger steak bowl. Start with a base of warm rice in your serving dish. Place the cooked hamburger steak patty on top of the rice. Generously ladle the prepared sauce over the patty. Crown the dish with the fried egg and the grilled pineapple slices. Enjoy your delicious homemade Loco Moco!
