Grandma’s Secret Recipe: Simple and Flavorful Dakbokkeumtang
Simple Dakbokkeumtang with Grandma’s Secret Touch
This is the Dakbokkeumtang my grandmother always used to make. It has a unique flavor you won’t find anywhere else! It tastes completely different from regular Dakbokkeumtang~~ but this is how we always cook it at home ^^ I highly recommend it because it’s so delicious~~
Ingredients- 1 whole chicken, prepared
- 1/4 Korean radish (mu)
- 1/2 onion
- 1/3 zucchini
- 2 chili peppers
- 1 stalk green onion
- 2 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp guk-ganjang (soy sauce for soup)
- Pinch of black pepper
- Pinch of salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, boil the prepared chicken in water. Discard the boiled water.
Step 2
Add fresh water, just enough to almost cover the chicken. Then, slice the Korean radish into bite-sized pieces and add it to the pot to boil together.
Step 3
Once the water starts boiling, add 2 tablespoons of gochugaru, 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, 2 tablespoons of guk-ganjang, and a pinch of black pepper.
Step 4
Once the seasonings are simmering well, add the half onion and 2 chili peppers, sliced. If you have zucchini, you can add it too, but I didn’t add it today since I’m using only what I have at home ^^
Step 5
Finally, slice and add the green onion. Adjust the remaining seasoning with a little salt. You’re done!
Step 6
Simmer for about 10 more minutes until bubbly, then turn off the heat. The seasoning is very simple, and it doesn’t require many ingredients, making it easy to prepare ^^ However, the taste is different from regular Dakbokkeumtang. If you’re tired of the usual Dakbokkeumtang and craving something clean and refreshing, I highly recommend this!!
