  • Cooking Time : Within 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 fresh onions
  • 3 packs of Jjapaghetti
  • 300g pork (shoulder, butt, belly, or neck)
  • 1 Cheongyang chili pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 2 fresh onions, 300g of tender pork, and 3 packs of Jjapaghetti. Wash and trim all ingredients cleanly, and your preparation is complete!

Step 1

Step 2

Dice the onions into bite-sized cubes, about 1.5 cm. If they are too small, they might break down too much while stir-frying. Aim for a moderate size.

Step 2

Step 3

Heat a pan over medium heat and add the 300g of pork. Cook until it’s nicely browned, allowing the fat to render and add flavor.

Step 3

Step 4

While the pork is cooking, bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil to cook the noodles. Adjust the cooking time for the Jjapaghetti noodles according to your preference.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the pork is partially cooked and has a nice color, add all the diced onions to the pan. Stir-fry them together; the onions will blend with the pork to create a sweet flavor.

Step 5

Step 6

After adding the onions, stir-fry them gently over medium-low heat. The key is to caramelize the onions thoroughly to bring out their natural sweetness. Continue stir-frying until the onions become translucent and slightly browned.

Step 6

Step 7

Once the onions are sweetly caramelized, it’s time to add the signature flavor of Jjapaghetti! Add the 3 Jjapaghetti powder sachets and the vegetable flakes. Stir in about 3-5 tablespoons of the noodle cooking water and stir-fry quickly. The noodle water helps make the sauce smoother and integrate better.

Step 7

Step 8

As you stir-fry the sauce, if it seems too thick, gradually add more noodle cooking water until you reach your desired consistency. It’s important to adjust it so the sauce coats the noodles well.

Step 8

Step 9

When the Jjajang sauce turns a deep black, becomes glossy, and thickens, turn off the heat. You’ll notice a rich and deep aroma of the Jjajang sauce.

Step 9

Step 10

Drain the noodles that were pre-cooked and add them to the finished Jjajang sauce. Mix them thoroughly until the noodles are evenly coated with the sauce. Mixing while warm helps the sauce penetrate the noodles better.

Step 10

Step 11

Transfer the well-mixed Jjajangmyeon to a serving bowl. For an extra touch, finely chop the Cheongyang chili pepper and sprinkle it on top according to your preference for a delightful spicy kick. Your delicious Gourmet Jjajangmyeon is ready to enjoy!
