  • A pinch of black pepper
  • Cooking oil, as needed

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

I highly recommend this cabbage fried rice for tonight’s dinner! It’s easy to chew and digest, making it a delightful meal for everyone.

Step 1

Step 2

Prepare the ingredients for the fried rice. You’ll need one can of Spam, two eggs, fresh cabbage, and aromatic green onion.

Step 2

Step 3

To ensure a tender texture when cooked, finely shred or mince the cabbage as much as possible. Cutting it this small helps it meld beautifully with the rice.

Step 3

Step 4

Dice the Spam into small cubes, similar in size to the minced cabbage. The savory flavor from the Spam will significantly enhance the taste of the fried rice.

Step 4

Step 5

Heat some cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped green onion (mostly the white parts) and sauté until fragrant, releasing its aroma. Once the ‘scallion oil’ is formed, add the shredded cabbage and stir-fry until it wilts. Then, add the diced Spam and cook until it’s lightly browned.

Step 5

Step 6

Add the cooked rice to the pan. Use a spatula to break up any clumps of rice and stir-fry everything together until the ingredients are well combined. It’s important to break up the rice grains to prevent clumping.

Step 6

Step 7

Now it’s time to season. Add 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir-fry well to ensure the seasonings are evenly distributed and the flavors are balanced.

Step 7

Step 8

In a separate small bowl, crack the 2 eggs and whisk them together with a fork or whisk until smooth.

Step 8

Step 9

Push the fried rice to one side of the pan, creating a clear space in the center. Pour the beaten egg mixture into this space. As the egg begins to set, gently stir it with chopsticks, cooking only about halfway. This technique ensures the egg is deliciously mixed throughout the rice grains.

Step 9

Step 10

Once the egg is semi-cooked and slightly scrambled, stir everything together with the rice until the egg and rice are well incorporated. Turn off the heat and serve immediately in a bowl.

Step 10

Step 11

Serve the finished cabbage fried rice beautifully on a plate. It’s best enjoyed hot right after cooking.

Step 11

Step 12

This cabbage fried rice is so flavorful and nutritious that it doesn’t require many side dishes. Its easy-to-digest nature makes it a comforting meal that’s gentle on the stomach.

Step 12

Step 13

For an extra touch of freshness and visual appeal, sprinkle some chopped green onions or sesame seeds on top of the fried rice before serving.
