Garlic Omelet Rolls: A Savory Treat for Adults
Fresh Garlic Omelet Rolls, Perfect for Adult Palates
It’s the season for fresh garlic! While garlic is known for its health benefits, its pungent aroma and sharp taste can be a bit much for some. Today, we’ve made an omelet roll packed with garlic, tailored for adult tastes. The delightful texture of the minced garlic adds a wonderful dimension to this dish.
Ingredients- 6 Eggs
- 1 Tbsp Minced Onion
- 1 Tbsp Minced Scallion (Green Onion)
- 3 Tbsp Minced Garlic (from about 10 cloves)
- 2 Tbsp Minced Ham
- 1 Tbsp Minced Cheongyang Pepper (Korean chili pepper)
- 1 Tbsp Minced Red Bell Pepper
Seasoning- 2 pinches Salt
- 1 tsp Tuna Extract (or fish sauce)
- 2 pinches Salt
- 1 tsp Tuna Extract (or fish sauce)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare all the vegetables and ham for the omelet roll. Finely mince the garlic – about 3 tablespoons worth from 10 cloves. Mince the red bell pepper, Cheongyang pepper, ham, scallion, and onion as well. Finely chopping the ingredients ensures they integrate smoothly into the omelet without being chunky.
Step 2
In a large bowl, crack the 6 eggs. Add the minced garlic, onion, scallion, ham, Cheongyang pepper, and red bell pepper that you prepared earlier. Season with 1 teaspoon of tuna extract and 2 pinches of salt. Whisk everything together with a fork or whisk until well combined and smooth. Ensuring there are no clumps of egg white will help create a beautifully rolled omelet.
Step 3
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Be careful not to overheat the pan, as the egg can cook too quickly. Pour about half of the egg mixture into the pan, spreading it thinly to cover the bottom evenly. Let it cook until the edges start to set. Cooking over medium heat prevents the omelet from becoming unevenly browned.
Step 4
When the egg is about 80% cooked, gently begin to roll it from one end. As you roll, carefully pour in more of the egg mixture into the empty space in the pan and continue rolling. Reduce the heat to low during this process to prevent burning and ensure the omelet cooks through evenly. Layering the egg mixture as you roll will create a thick and appealing omelet.
Step 5
Once all the egg mixture has been rolled, cover the pan with a lid or continue to gently roll the omelet over low heat, ensuring all sides are cooked to a golden-brown color. Cooking the sides as well helps the omelet cook completely through and maintain its shape. Slow cooking over gentle heat ensures a moist and perfectly cooked omelet.
Step 6
After the garlic omelet roll is cooked, let it cool slightly before slicing it into bite-sized pieces, about 1.5 to 2 cm thick. Slicing while too hot might cause it to crumble, so letting it cool a bit will help maintain its shape. Arrange the slices attractively on a plate, and your delicious garlic omelet roll is ready to be enjoyed!
