  • Ingredient Category : Processed foods
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Boil / Simmer
  • Servings : 1 serving
  • Cooking Time : Within 10 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Ingredients

  • 1 pack Jjajang Ramen
  • 50g minced pork
  • 1/2 onion
  • 30g cucumber (for garnish)
  • 20g green onion
  • 1/2 cup water (approx. 100ml)
  • 0.5 Tbsp cooking wine (like Mirin)
  • 1.5 Tbsp cooking oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients for your delicious ganzajang ramen. Having all ingredients measured and prepped beforehand will make the cooking process much smoother.

Step 1

Step 2

Finely dice the onion as it will be incorporated into the sauce. Slice the cucumber into thin julienne strips for garnish. Chop the green onion for flavoring the oil.

Step 2

Step 3

In a pot of boiling water, cook the ramen noodles according to the package instructions (approximately 3-5 minutes) until al dente. Once cooked, quickly rinse the noodles under cold water to remove excess starch, then drain thoroughly in a colander. This step ensures the noodles remain firm and don’t become mushy.

Step 3

Step 4

Place the drained noodles into your serving bowl. Mix in the olive oil or liquid soup packet that comes with the ramen. This prevents sticking and adds a subtle flavor.

Step 4

Step 5

Heat a wok or deep pan over medium heat and add 1.5 Tbsp of cooking oil. Add the chopped green onions and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant, creating an aromatic green onion oil. Then, add the minced pork and 0.5 Tbsp of cooking wine. Stir-fry for about 2 minutes, or until the pork is no longer pink and becomes crumbly, ensuring any gamey odors are removed.

Step 5

Step 6

Add the diced onion to the pan with the cooked pork and stir-fry for about 1 minute until it becomes translucent. Next, add the jjajang powder soup base and stir-fry together with the other ingredients for another minute. Stir-frying the powder base first deepens the flavor of the sauce.

Step 6

Step 7

Pour in 1/2 cup (approx. 100ml) of water into the pan. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium-low heat and cook for about 1 minute. Simmering allows the flavors to meld together, creating a delicious ganzajang sauce.

Step 7

Step 8

Tip: If the sauce tastes too bland, try adding about 0.5 teaspoon of oyster sauce. The added umami from the oyster sauce will enhance the overall richness and depth of your ganzajang sauce!

Step 8

Step 9

Generously spoon the warm, freshly made ganzajang sauce over the noodles in your bowl. Top with the julienned cucumber for a visually appealing garnish. Your delicious and impressive ganzajang ramen is now ready to be enjoyed!
