Main Ingredients

  • 3 bunches of sea grapes (Mul-paraé)
  • 1/2 cup radish, thinly julienned (about half a paper cup size)
  • 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 Tbsp chopped green onion
  • 4 Tbsp vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

I found these three bunches of sea grapes at the market for only 1,000 won. Such a bargain, right?

Step 1

Step 2

Rinse the sea grapes thoroughly. The ones sold these days are much cleaner than they used to be, which makes preparation so much easier! Gently rinse them about three times under cold water, then drain them completely in a colander.

Step 2

Step 3

Thinly julienne the radish. About half a paper cup’s worth is a good amount.

Step 3

Step 4

Add the julienned radish to the drained sea grapes.

Step 4

Step 5

Prepare 2 tablespoons of chopped green onion.

Step 5

Step 6

Add 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic.

Step 6

Step 7

Add 1 tablespoon of sugar for sweetness.

Step 7

Step 8

Measure out 1 tablespoon of salt for seasoning.

Step 8

Step 9

Add 4 tablespoons of vinegar to provide a tangy flavor. The vinegar helps to soften the slightly firm texture of the sea grapes.

Step 9

Step 10

For an added depth of flavor, add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. A little soy sauce really makes a difference in enhancing the overall deliciousness.

Step 10

Step 11

Finally, sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds for a nutty aroma. Now that all the seasonings are ready, all that’s left is to mix it all together. The fresh, sea-like aroma filling your kitchen is just wonderful!

Step 11

Step 12

Gently but firmly mix the sea grapes and radish with the seasonings. You can use chopsticks or your hands, pressing down to ensure the flavors meld well.

Step 12

Step 13

Your delicious seasoned sea grape salad is complete! Transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate immediately to keep it fresh.
