This salad-like creation is perfect as a standalone meal, especially when you want to skip rice. Enjoy the fresh, vibrant flavors!
Main Ingredients- 1 bunch fresh Chamnamul (Korean potherb mustard), about 50g
- 200g firm tofu
Seasoning- 2 Tbsp perilla oil
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp plum extract (maesilcheong)
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
- Pinch of fine salt
- 2 Tbsp perilla oil
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp plum extract (maesilcheong)
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
- Pinch of fine salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly wash the fresh chamnamul and pat it dry. Cut it into bite-sized pieces, about 3-4 cm long. Prepare the firm tofu by gently mashing it with the back of a fork or with your hands until it’s crumbly. This helps the seasoning penetrate better.
Step 2
In a mixing bowl, combine the cut chamnamul with 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp plum extract, 1 Tbsp perilla oil, and 1 Tbsp sesame seeds. Gently toss the ingredients together until the chamnamul is evenly coated with the seasonings. Let it marinate for a moment to enhance its fragrant aroma.
Step 3
Add the remaining 1 Tbsp of perilla oil to the mashed tofu. Season it with a pinch of fine salt according to your taste. Now, carefully combine the seasoned chamnamul with the mashed tofu. Gently mix everything together, being careful not to crush the tofu too much. The key is to achieve a harmonious blend of textures and flavors.
Step 4
Once everything is well combined, your delicious Chamnamul Tofu Salad is ready! Transfer it to a serving dish. This dish is a perfect light and healthy meal on its own, or you can serve it over rice for a delightful bibimbap-style experience.
