Ingredients- 1kg Quince
- 500g Honey
- 500g White Sugar
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the washed and trimmed quince. It’s important to slice the quince as thinly as possible. You can julienne it, but quince can be tough to cut. I prefer to slice it thinly because I like my quince tea clean, without large pieces of fruit floating in it.
Step 2
Prepare the honey and sugar that will sweeten your quince preserve. I’ve prepared 500g of white sugar and 500g of acacia honey in a 1:1 ratio. Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar or honey according to your preference. You can also make delicious quince preserves by using an equal weight of sugar to the quince, or by using an equal weight of honey.
Step 3
Add the prepared honey to the thinly sliced quince and gently mix. Marinating the quince in honey beforehand allows it to absorb the honey, resulting in a deeper flavor.
Step 4
Add the sugar to the honey-marinated quince and mix well. It’s important to mix until the sugar has dissolved. Alternatively, you can place the sliced quince into a sterilized glass jar, pour the honey over it, and then layer the sugar on top. If you want to enjoy it sooner, I recommend mixing the honey and sugar first until the sugar is partially dissolved, then transferring it to the jar.
Step 5
Place the well-mixed quince into a sterilized glass container and close the lid. Let it mature at room temperature for 2-3 days, then refrigerate for another 1-2 weeks to complete the delicious quince preserve. Enjoy it as a tea by adding a suitable amount to warm water. Instead of making a large batch at once, it’s best to portion fruit preserves into smaller jars and store them in the refrigerator for a fresher taste over a longer period.
