Is your rice cooker empty and it’s time to make a fresh batch of rice? Are you looking for a way to add a special depth of flavor to your everyday rice? Just as chefs on TV shows sometimes add a piece of kelp or kelp broth to their rice, I decided to try cooking rice with a pack of Sempio Vegetable Broth. I was curious about the resulting flavor, and I must say, it was a delightful surprise! Using a broth made from carefully simmering 6 types of root vegetables, the rice turned out incredibly fragrant and savory, with no unpleasant odors. After all, delicious rice alone can make kimchi a perfectly satisfying accompaniment. This vegetable broth rice boasts a wonderfully fluffy texture and a subtle, inviting sheen. Give it a try – you might just fall in love with your rice all over again!
Main Ingredients- 1 pack Sempio Vegetable Broth
- 5 cups Rice
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare 5 cups of rice. Rinse the rice under running water until the water runs clear, then drain. After rinsing the rice, add the entire pack of Sempio Vegetable Broth directly to the rice cooker pot.
Step 2
Now, add water to the rice cooker pot just as you normally would for cooking plain rice. (The amount of water should be the same as your usual rice cooking water.) Since the vegetable broth already adds flavor and aroma, careful water measurement is key. Gently stir with a rice paddle to ensure the rice, broth, and water are well combined.
Step 3
Notice how the rice water takes on a mild brown hue after adding the vegetable broth. Now, close the lid of your electric pressure rice cooker and set it to cook using the standard white rice setting.
Step 4
Your delicious, freshly cooked rice is ready! Can you see how fluffy each grain is, and the appealing sheen? The rice is so flavorful on its own, you might find yourself happily eating it plain. If you don’t have Sempio Vegetable Broth on hand, feel free to experiment with other broths you might have (like anchovy or kelp broth) – you’re likely to achieve a wonderfully flavorful result regardless! The rice truly tastes incredibly delicious, like honey! (laughs)
Step 5
What’s better with a bowl of freshly cooked, hot rice than kimchi? Enjoying it with freshly made kimchi or refreshing scallion kimchi is an absolute delight. And there you have it – rice cooked with flavorful vegetable broth! Enjoy your meal!
