I found sirloin steak on a great sale, so I immediately bought some! While contemplating what to cook, I decided to make an avocado rice bowl. It turned out incredibly delicious with a fantastic depth of flavor.
Main Ingredients- 300g Beef Sirloin Steak
- 1 Ripe Avocado
- 1/4 Onion
- 1 Handful of Cabbage
- 1/5 Zucchini
- 2 Button Mushrooms
- 1-2 Bowls of Steamed Rice
Sauce & Seasoning- 5 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 3 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- A Pinch of Black Pepper (to taste)

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables for the rice bowl. Thinly slice the onion. Cut the zucchini and button mushrooms into bite-sized pieces (half-moons or quarters). Chop the cabbage into large, bite-sized pieces. Feel free to use any leftover vegetables from your fridge! (Tip: Chopping the vegetables a bit smaller will help them absorb the sauce better and taste more delicious!)
Step 2
Heat 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Once the garlic aroma releases, add all the prepared vegetables (onion, zucchini, cabbage, mushrooms) and stir-fry together.
Step 3
As the vegetables begin to turn slightly translucent, pour in 5 tablespoons of soy sauce and 3 tablespoons of sugar. Stir and cook over medium-low heat, allowing the sauce to reduce and coat the vegetables. Once the vegetables are tender and the sauce has thickened slightly, set them aside on a separate plate.
Step 4
Now, it’s time to cook the sirloin steak. Wipe the pan clean or use a clean pan heated over high heat with a little cooking oil. Sear the sirloin steak for about 1-2 minutes per side, just until it’s nicely browned. (Tip: Sprinkle with salt and pepper before cooking to enhance the flavor!)
Step 5
Slice the well-seared sirloin steak into bite-sized pieces, about 1-1.5 cm thick. Avoid slicing it too thinly to prevent the juices from escaping.
Step 6
Place a generous portion of steamed rice into your serving bowl. Artfully arrange the sautéed vegetables over the rice. Doesn’t the combination of rice and vegetables already make your mouth water?
Step 7
Cut the ripe avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh with a spoon. Slice the avocado into bite-sized pieces. (Tip: To easily separate the avocado flesh from the skin, insert a spoon between the skin and the flesh and twist.)
Step 8
Finally, assemble your beautiful rice bowl. Generously top the rice and vegetables with the sliced sirloin steak, followed by the creamy avocado slices. For an extra touch of richness and flavor, you can place a raw egg yolk in the center. Enjoy your delicious Sirloin and Avocado Rice Bowl!
